Laser Micromachined Shaped Holes

Picosecond laser micromachining allows contoured and shaped holes to be drilled with minimal recast.  The images above show the progression of the hole from the inlet to the outlet.  The inlet hole (picture on the far left) is 0.30mm in diameter and the outlet hole (picture on the far right) is 0.08mm in diameter.  The ability to laser micromachine smaller tapered holes with smooth inlet and outlet are attributes of picosecond laser micromachining.  For more in-depth information, review the application notes paper for shaped holes.
