Dr. Larry R. Dosser was recently appointed to the Midwest Regional Employer Council (REC) by the National Center for Optics and Photonics Education (OP-TEC). The Midwest REC covers the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, and Ohio. Dr. Dosser will assist the director of the Midwest REC, Mr. Greg Kepner of Indian Hills Community College, in efforts to improve/enlarge photonics education. The focus of MLPC on the REC will be to continue to bring new educational programs to Dayton to support advanced manufacturing concepts in laser-based manufacturing and STEM education. 12-3-2009 Dr. Larry R. Dr. Larry R. Dosser was recently elected to a two year term on the Board of Directors of the Laser Institute of America (LIA). His work on the board will focus on promoting the understanding of the laser materials processing industry and its applications with educators, students, and persons working in both research and manufacturing. A major emphasis will be placed on encouraging young students to consider a career in laser materials processing and introducing laser technology to local STEM programs. The LIA promotes laser applications and laser safety to the industrial, medical, research, and government communities. 9-17-2009 MLPC Introduces Laser Microcutting & Electropolishing
MLPC has added laser microcutting capability along with finishing services of electropolishing and passivation. Microcutting can be applied to many medical and surgical device products such as flexible intravascular tubes, endoscopic tools, guide wire holes, biopsy instruments and micro connectors. At noon on September 22, 2009, Kevin Hartke, VP of Operations, will be presenting at the MD&M Midwest as part of the show's Innovation Briefs segment. Mr. Hartke will be discussing, Laser Microfabrication - Advances in Laser Technology to Machine, Weld, and Mark Micro Scale Components. The presentation will take place on the tradeshow floor in booth 2850 Hall D. Also, MLPC will be exhibiting at the tradeshow in booth 4327.
